AFRICA REGIONAL YOUTH SUMMIT ON AGROECOLOGY BUSINESS AND CAADP KAMPALA

Call for proposals for side event application

The Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Association invites stakeholders, partners, and youth led organizations to submit proposals for side events for the Africa Regional Youth Summit on Agroecology Business and CAADP Kampala, scheduled for 24 th -26 th in Kampala, Uganda. The Summit will convene under the theme Investing in Youth for Agroecological Enterprises and Inclusive Policy Change and will bring together over 100 youth involved in agroecology businesses across the African continent to exchange knowledge on agroecology businesses.

The side events will provide interactive platforms for in-depth engagements, knowledge exchange, and showcasing innovative practices under the following subthemes.
1) Unlocking Agroecology Business Opportunities and Youth-Led Innovations in Africa.2) Strengthening Meaningful Youth Participation in the Implementation of the CAADP Kampala Declaration.
3) Expanding Access to Finance for Youth-Led Agroecology Enterprises and Innovations.
4) Building Youth Capacity through Skills Development, Mentorship, and Leadership Pathways in Agroecology.

Objectives of the Side Events

  • To provide opportunities for panel discussions, presentations, and in-depth discussions on innovative agroecology business solutions.
  • To showcase innovations and best practices in agroecology business, finance, and capacity development and mentorship for youth.
  • To promote collaborations and explore business and partnership opportunities between the youth, private sector, development partners, and policymakers.
  • To identify and map out mechanisms for strengthening meaningful youth participation in the Implementation of the CAADP Kampala Declaration.
  • To generate actionable recommendations aligned with the summit theme and sub-themes.

Submission Guides

Event Focus

  • The proposed side event should at least align with one of the four thematic priorities of the summit.
  • The proposed event should also emphasize innovations, experiences, best practices, and solutions for the youth in agroecology.
  • Lastly, it must demonstrate relevance to either agroecology business, policy, finance, and capacity development.

Date

The side events will convene on 24 th and 25 th of June 2026.

Duration

Each side event will be allocated 90 minutes.

Language

English and French.

Application Process and Format

  • Complete the side event call for application form, providing details on the session title, the sub-theme it aligns with, the objectives and relevance to the Summit, expected outcomes, and follow-up action.
  • Submit a two-page concept note as you fill in the application form, and it will come to info@pelumassociationrs.org and events@pelumassociationrs.org with the Subject: Side Event Application Africa Regional Youth Summit on Agroecology Business and CAADP Kampala.
  • All proposals must be submitted by 1 st May 2026 (23:59 EAT)

Notification of acceptance

Successful applicants will be notified by 15 th May 2026. Organisers of the selected side events will receive further guidance regarding scheduling, venue allocation, technical support and payment process.

Cost for the side event

Each side event costs 2500 USD.
